What is polyester satin fabric?

You’ve probably already guessed it, but the name polyester satin tells you all you need to know! It’s a fabric made by weaving a specific fiber (polyester) into a specific structure (satin). Satin is made by floating four or more weft threads over a warp thread. It creates a unique pattern that lends satin its characteristically smooth look!

Polyester is a synthetic fiber: it’s manmade and cannot be found anywhere in nature. There are pros and cons to this, but don’t be afraid to experiment and use whatever fabric will best suit your needs.

Polyester satin is smooth, shiny and drapes well around the body. The fabric is quite sturdy, making it wrinkle-free and low maintenance. Plus, the polyester satin fabric doesn’t rip easily, so you’ll be able to use it for a long time!

Can polyester satin be washed?

Polyester satin fabric is machine washable! Just make sure you don’t wash it at a temperature over 35 C or 95 F. Plus, it’s better to use gentle detergents or load the drum only halfway to reduce the strain on the fabric.

Is polyester satin breathable?

The biggest downside of polyester satin fabric is that it is not breathable. Polyester doesn’t retain moisture or allow air to pass through, which can irritate the skin and cause sweating.
